Hey everyone! My name is Dinesh Sooknarine, and I proudly call the Essequibo Coast home, specifically from Windsor Castle in Lima, Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up in this vibrant area has deeply influenced who I am today. The warmth of our community is palpable, and nothing brings us together quite like a good lime over a plate of delicious pepperpot or cook-up rice, especially during festive times like Mashramani or Christmas. The sounds of soca and chutney music echo in our celebrations, reminding me of the lively spirit of our people.
As a labourer, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside many dedicated individuals who share my love for Guyana. We often reminisce about our beautiful landscapes—from the lush savannas to the serene rivers and our breathtaking waterfalls like Kaieteur. Each aspect of our environment is a source of pride and connects us to our rich heritage. No matter where life takes me, I always carry the essence of my homeland in my heart, and I believe that home truly is where the heart is.
Living abroad, I cherish the strong bonds we maintain as part of the Guyanese diaspora. We are a resilient and vibrant community, full of vibes and energy, always ready to uplift one another.
