Greetings from the vibrant heart of Guyana! My name is Dwayne Benjamin, an electrician by trade, proudly serving the community of Coast 29 Public Road Coffee in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up in this beautiful country, I’ve always embraced the rich culture that surrounds me—a mix of Indigenous, African, Indian, and European influences that shape our everyday life. From the lively rhythms of chutney soca to the tantalizing scents of local dishes like pepperpot and roti, Guyana is a place where every experience is steeped in tradition.
As I navigate the challenges of my profession, I often revisit fond memories of family gatherings where we would indulge in doubles and other street foods that bring us together. The warmth of our local community is undeniable, even as many of us find ourselves spread across different shores. The connection to our homeland is strong, whether it’s through the flavorful dishes we cook in our kitchens or the stories we share about our homeland with friends and family abroad. The pride of being Guyanese shines through, no matter where we are.
My work as an electrician allows me to engage with my community and contribute to our growth while keeping the spirit of Guyana alive in my heart.
