Hello! I’m Neville Benjamin, a dedicated farmer hailing from Lower Pomeroon River Grant in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. My days are spent tending to the fertile lands that have nourished my family for generations, growing everything from cassava to rice, and of course, the ever-popular plantain. Farming isn’t just a livelihood for me; it’s a way to connect with the earth and our rich agricultural heritage.
In our vibrant community, we often gather to share meals that celebrate our diverse cultures, such as pepper pot and dhal puri, which remind us of the flavors of home. I take pride in the warm hospitality that Guyanese people are known for, whether it’s sharing a meal with neighbors or exchanging stories on the riverbank. It’s this deep connection to our roots that strengthens our bonds, especially among the diaspora who carry our culture beyond our shores.
Outside of farming, I cherish the beauty of our landscape—the lush greenery, the mighty rivers like the Macrapana, and the lively marketplaces filled with the sounds of laughter and bargaining. As I continue this journey, I remain committed to uplifting my community and contributing to our local economy, because as we know, it's the people who shape our home, making it a place filled with potential and promise.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
