Hello! I’m Elaine Moore, a proud resident of Regina Essequibo Coast, nestled along the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region. Growing up amidst the lush landscapes and vibrant communities of Guyana has deeply shaped my identity. My roots are firmly planted in the rich soil of our culture, where the aroma of cook-up rice and the sweet scent of ripe mangoes fill the air during festive occasions. There's nothing quite like a Sunday afternoon spent with family, laughing and sharing stories over a hearty plate of pepper pot, reminding me of the warmth and closeness that defines our people.
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I understand the longing that many feel for our homeland. There’s a unique bond that connects us, whether we’re living on the Essequibo Coast or far from home. I believe it’s important to keep our traditions alive, from celebrating Mashramani with its colorful parades to engaging in spirited conversations about our heritage. I often reminisce about the days spent at the Demerara River, soaking in the sun, and taking in the vibrant sounds of our local music—those moments are irreplaceable and form the heartbeat of our community.
