Welcome to my corner of the world! I’m Elaine Montague, a dedicated teacher residing in the vibrant community of Bank Essequibo, nestled in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up in Guyana, I've always cherished the rich flavors of our cuisine—from savory pepperpot to sweet, juicy black cake. I often find myself reminiscing about family gatherings where we would enjoy these dishes together, reinforcing the bonds of our community. As I connect with the diaspora, I love hearing stories from Guyanese living abroad, sharing our unique experiences and keeping our culture alive across borders. It’s heartwarming to witness the pride and passion we all have for our roots, no matter where life takes us.
Beyond the classroom, I am passionate about exploring the natural beauty of our homeland, like the majestic Essequibo River and the lush rainforests that cradle our rich biodiversity.
