Hello! I’m Elias Rampersaud, a proud labourer from the vibrant community of Essequibo at Parika East Bank in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. My roots run deep in this beautiful land where the Essequibo River winds through lush landscapes, and the sounds of life fill the air. From the aroma of freshly cooked pepperpot at family gatherings to the laughter shared over a plate of cook-up rice, the warmth of our culture is something I cherish deeply.
Having grown up in Guyana, I’ve witnessed the challenges and triumphs that define our nation. Despite the struggles many face, like the poverty and educational hurdles noted by others, the spirit of resilience remains strong in our communities. I often reflect on the potential that Guyana holds, especially with the recent developments in the oil and gas sector. It’s a bittersweet reminder of how far we can go, yet how much work remains to uplift our people.
