Hello! I’m Elvin Miguel, a proud Guyanese saw operator residing in the scenic Pom. River Bat Creek, nestled in the vibrant Pomeroon-Supenaam region. My roots run deep in this land, where the lush greenery meets the flowing rivers, and the warmth of our communities is felt in every gathering. Growing up near the Castle Lower Pom and Kairmap Creek, I’ve learned to appreciate the beauty and challenges of our environment, which has shaped my work ethic and community spirit.
As someone who cherishes our rich cultural heritage, I often find joy in sharing traditional Guyanese meals like pepperpot and roti with family and friends. The flavors of our diverse culinary landscape, influenced by the African, Indian, Chinese, and Portuguese communities, remind me of our shared history and resilience. Though I currently work away from the hustle and bustle of the capital, my heart remains tied to my home in Pomeroon, where the river whispers stories of our ancestors. I value the connections we maintain with the diaspora, and I believe it’s important to uplift each other, ensuring that the essence of our culture continues to thrive—even if the beauty of our surroundings sometimes falters. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
