Hello! My name is Emanuel James, and I’m proud to call the lush landscapes of Mission in Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. As a dedicated farmer, my days are spent nurturing the land that has nourished generations of my family. Growing up in Guyana, I learned to appreciate the beauty of our natural resources, from the vibrant flora of the jungle to the rich waters of the Essequibo River. Every crop I harvest is a tribute to the hard work of my ancestors and a connection to my roots.
Guyana is more than just a place on the map; it’s a vibrant culture filled with warmth and a sense of community. I love sharing our delicious local dishes, like pepperpot and cook-up rice, with family and friends, often accompanied by good music and laughter. I’m also keenly aware of the importance of our diaspora, whether it’s my cousin in Brooklyn or my friend in London. We stay connected through our shared Guyanese heritage, celebrating our traditions no matter where we are in the world. I often remind my friends to apply for their Guyanese passport—once you’re part of us, you're always part of us!
In my free time, I enjoy exploring the hidden gems of our country, like Manawarin Dove Island and River School Island at Akawini. The beauty of these places inspires my work and fuels my passion for preserving our environment.
