Hello! I’m Enreki Abrams, a proud labourer from Mission, located in the heart of the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Nestled along the picturesque Pomeroon River, my hometown is a vibrant melting pot of cultures, where the rhythms of the river meet the warmth of community life. I am deeply connected to the land and its traditions, whether it's enjoying a hearty plate of metemgee or savoring the sweetness of fresh pomerac, which are staples I grew up with.
Living in Guyana, we often find ourselves at the crossroads of various influences, from our rich indigenous heritage to the remnants of colonial history that shape our identity today. Despite being geographically located in South America, I believe that our spirit resonates with the Caribbean, as we celebrate our unique festivals like Mashramani and Diwali. We also can't forget the vibrant local music and the lively storytelling that connects us to our ancestors and the diaspora around the world.
As I work to provide for my family and community, I cherish the connections we've built both locally and with Guyanese abroad. Whether it’s through sharing stories, recipes, or memories of home, I am proud to represent Guyana and its pluralistic culture. Together, we celebrate our differences and the shared history that binds us, fostering a sense of belonging, no matter where we are in the world.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
