Hello! My name is Kelim Pearson, and I am proud to call Mission, in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana, my home. As a labourer, I spend my days working hard to support my family and contribute to our vibrant community. Guyana is rich in natural beauty, from the winding rivers like the Pom River and Arasaro to the lush rainforests that surround us. The connection to our land is something I cherish deeply, as it has shaped who I am and how I view the world.
Growing up, I have always been surrounded by the flavors of our local cuisine. Whether it's enjoying a plate of roti from Singh’s Roti Shop or savoring fresh catch from our rivers, food is a central part of our culture. I take pride in the resilience and warmth of our people, who are deeply connected to our traditions and each other. I often think about those who have migrated, sharing stories of their lives abroad and remembering the beauty of Guyana — as they say, it’s pronounced "Guy-Ana," a small but significant point of pride!
While I acknowledge the challenges our nation faces, I remain hopeful for the future. Our young people deserve a chance at a better quality of life, and I believe that through hard work and community efforts, we can uplift each other. As I continue on this journey, I hope to strengthen connections within our diaspora and beyond, reminding us all of the beauty and resilience of our homeland.
