Greetings from the beautiful Essequibo Coast! My name is Esardai Balgobin, and I am a dedicated nurse currently residing in the vibrant community of the 140 New Housing Scheme in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up in Guyana has instilled in me a deep appreciation for our rich cultural heritage, from the lush landscapes to the warm smiles of our people. Whether it’s enjoying a plate of pepperpot or a sweet slice of black cake during the holidays, I carry the tastes of our homeland wherever I go.
As a proud Guyanese, I cherish our unique connections, whether it's through festive gatherings or local traditions, like the salt on fresh pineapple that enhances its natural sweetness. My experiences in healthcare have taught me the importance of community, and I strive to uplift those around me, just as my family and neighbors have always supported each other. It’s heartwarming to see Guyanese communities thriving abroad, as so many of us have ventured out to places like Barbados and beyond, carrying pieces of our culture with us.
In my downtime, I enjoy sharing the little-known facts about our homeland, like how Guyana is referenced in the Pokémon universe as the discovery site of Mew, the ancestor of all Pokémon!
