Hello! I'm Eunice Thornhill, a proud resident of Essequibo, specifically from the charming area of 12 Old Road Greenwich in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region. Growing up amidst the lush landscapes and vibrant culture of Guyana has deeply influenced my identity. The rich history and diversity of our people, from the Amerindians to the Indo-Guyanese, have shaped the way we live, celebrate, and connect with one another. Whether it's enjoying a plate of pepperpot on special occasions or sharing stories at the riverbanks with neighbors, these experiences are intrinsic to who I am.
As a lover of our local flora, I often reminisce about the Brazilian nut trees that grow in Grenada and the unique crops we cultivate here, like our beloved callaloo, which we affectionately call "bahgi." I draw pride from our beautiful Essequibo River, where many of my fondest memories were made, and I often tell friends abroad about the incredible landscapes that surround us, like the captivating Lower Pomeroon River and the serene Kabakaburi settlements.
Being part of the Guyanese diaspora, I cherish the connections I have with fellow Guyanese around the world. We share a mutual bond that extends beyond borders, whether it's reminiscing about our hometowns or introducing others to our culture.
