Hello! I’m Faraz Baksh, a proud resident of Pomeroon in the stunning Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. My roots run deep in this vibrant community, where the lush landscapes meet the rich cultural heritage that defines our way of life. Growing up here has instilled in me a love for our traditional foods, like pepperpot and metemgee, often shared during family gatherings and community celebrations. The warmth of a shared meal is something I cherish, as it brings people together, just like our annual Maroon Festival and other local festivities.
Having spent years connecting with the diaspora, I understand the importance of maintaining ties with our homeland. My experiences abroad have allowed me to appreciate the remarkable resilience and spirit of Guyanese people, whether they are in Toronto, Newcastle, or beyond. I often reminisce about my childhood adventures up to the breathtaking Corona Falls, and how those experiences shaped my identity. As many of us navigate life between countries, I strive to bridge that gap and keep our community engaged and informed about the developments back home.
