Welcome! I’m Fareena Ali, a proud farmer from the lush River Northern Hog Island in Pomeroon-Supenaam, Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the vibrant landscapes and rich biodiversity of our country has instilled in me a deep appreciation for the land. My work on the farm allows me to cultivate not just crops but also a connection to my heritage. Whether it’s planting cassava or harvesting fresh fruits, every day is a celebration of the flavors and traditions that define our Guyanese culture.
In my community, we often gather to share meals featuring our beloved dishes like pepperpot and roti, accompanied by stories of our ancestors. I believe that food has a unique way of bringing people together, and there’s no better way to experience the warmth of our culture than through shared meals. I often reminisce about the beautiful rivers that flow through our land, like the Comaro and the Pomeroon, which not only provide sustenance but are also the heart of our daily lives.
