Hello! My name is Faye Williams, and I proudly call Karawab in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana my home. Nestled along the lush banks of the Pomeroon River, my community is rich in culture and history. The vibrant landscapes are dotted with towering palms and the sweet aroma of fresh cassava and pepperpot fills the air, a testament to our diverse culinary heritage. The warmth of our people is unmatched, as we embrace both locals and visitors alike with open arms and hearty smiles.
As a resident of this enchanting land, I have witnessed firsthand the resilience of our people in the face of challenges, including the ongoing geopolitical tensions regarding our Essequibo region. It’s disheartening to see the discussions surrounding our oil resources overshadow the rich culture and community spirit that thrive here. Despite these external pressures, we Guyanese remain united and friendly, always ready to share a good meal or a story about our beloved homeland.
My journey also connects me to the vibrant Guyanese diaspora, where we share our experiences and extend love across borders.
