Greetings! My name is Fazeia Sagely, and I proudly hail from the vibrant Essequibo Coast in Guyana, specifically 21 West of Public Road, Pomeroon-Supenaam. As a librarian, I cherish the role of fostering a love for reading and knowledge within our community. My work allows me to connect with the rich narratives and diverse cultures that shape our beautiful country. In my spare time, I enjoy exploring the lush riversides and savoring traditional dishes like pepperpot and metemgee, which always remind me of home.
Guyana, though distinct in its identity, is an integral part of the Caribbean. We may not have our feet in the Caribbean Sea, but we certainly share its culture and spirit, as seen in our participation in CARICOM. I love engaging with fellow Guyanese, both at home and abroad, as we support each other through the challenges we face, including the complexities of our economy and governance. Even amid struggles with corruption and the rising cost of living, our community remains resilient, with a strong bond that transcends borders. The stories we share, whether from the bustling streets of Georgetown or the serene landscapes of the Lower Pomeroon, are what keep our culture alive.
As I continue my journey as a librarian, I aim to be a source of knowledge and inspiration for the younger generation.
