Welcome to my corner of the Essequibo Coast! My name is Fiona La Cruz, and I proudly call Kayman Dam home. As a farmer in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region, I am deeply connected to the rich agricultural traditions that have sustained my community for generations. Here, we cultivate not just crops but also a sense of identity, fostering a relationship with the land that echoes through our local markets and kitchens.
When I'm not tending to my fields, you can find me sharing a plate of dhal puri with family and friends, often laughing as we dip it into flavorful curries. Food is a universal language, and few things bring us together like a hearty meal. Whether it's a spicy pepperpot during the holidays or a simple fish curry fresh from the local catch, there's nothing quite like the taste of home. I believe that our culinary heritage is a reflection of the vibrant cultures that make up Guyana, and I cherish every moment spent savoring these flavors.
