Hello! I’m Floyd Matthias, a proud Guyanese from Lower Pom River Grant Teneze Farm in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region. Living amidst the lush landscapes and vibrant rivers of my home, I embrace the rich culture that defines Guyana. From the sweet aroma of curry and roti wafting through my kitchen to the lively sounds of music that remind me of my grandmother’s stories, my roots run deep in this beautiful land. I love sharing the flavors of our Indian and Creole cuisine, just like my friend Tonya does in her culinary showcases.
As a labourer, I take pride in my work and the contributions I make to my community. Guyana is on the rise, projected to become the fourth highest oil-producing country by 2024. While I am excited about the opportunities this brings, I also hold dear the memories of my upbringing—growing up near Regent and Durban streets where life was filled with laughter and unity. These memories keep me grounded as I navigate my life here and connect with others in the diaspora.
