Farming has been my passion for as long as I can remember, and I find joy in nurturing the land and cultivating crops that not only sustain my community but also reflect the rich agricultural heritage of Guyana. From cassava to rice, my work connects me deeply to our soil and the vibrant culture that thrives in our rural landscapes.
Living in Spring Garden, I am fortunate to be surrounded by the natural beauty of the Pomeroon-Supenaam region. I often reminisce about the discussions with friends and family about our local landmarks, like the serene canals and lush riverbanks that define our way of life. The warmth of our community is palpable, whether we're sharing a meal of pepperpot and metemgee or coming together for festivals that celebrate our diverse heritage. For me, farming is not just a job; it’s a way to contribute to the communal spirit that binds us, even as many of us—like me—may find ourselves in the diaspora, missing the familiarity of home.
I cherish the connections I've made with fellow Guyanese abroad, who often share fond memories of their roots and express hope for the future of our beloved country. Just like my fellow citizens, I too hope for positive change and growth in our society. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
