Hello! My name is Garfield Charles, and I proudly call Essequibo my home. As a security guard, I spend my days ensuring the safety of my community while enjoying the vibrant atmosphere that our beautiful region has to offer. Living on the Old Road in Parika East, I am surrounded by the lush landscapes and the soothing sounds of the Pomeroon River, which are part of what makes Guyana so special.
Growing up in a culturally rich environment, I've always cherished our diverse traditions and flavors. Whether it’s the aroma of pepperpot wafting through the air during Christmas or the colorful festivities of Mashramani, these experiences have instilled a deep sense of pride in my Guyanese heritage. It’s a joy to connect with others in our diaspora community, sharing stories and flavors that remind us of home, just like how we affectionately address strangers as “aunty” or “uncle,” creating a familial bond wherever we go.
Though there are challenges, like the occasional complaints about Georgetown, I believe in the untapped potential of our nation.
