Hello! I’m Compton Douglas, a proud Guyanese currently working as a security guard at Coast 273 Sand Reef in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region. My roots run deep in this vibrant land, where the rich culture is as diverse as our people. Growing up, I cherished the flavors of our national dishes—whether it was a hearty plate of pepperpot or the sweetness of a ripe mango from my backyard, each bite reminds me of home and the warmth of family gatherings.
Having witnessed the changes in our country since the days of Jones Town in the 80s, I carry the stories of resilience and migration in my heart. The struggles of past decades taught us the importance of community, whether here in Guyana or among the diaspora around the world. I often connect with fellow Guyanese who’ve made their homes abroad, sharing laughter over memories of our beloved Georgetown and the unique way we pronounce our names—it’s “Ess-eh-qwi-boh,” not what you might think!
I believe that no matter where we are, our culture remains a vital part of who we are. I take pride in representing Guyana, not only through my work but by sharing our heritage with those I meet. From our rich history to the joys of our local celebrations, I’m dedicated to ensuring that the spirit of Guyana shines brightly, even far from our shores.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
