About GARFIELD TERRENCE CHASE

About Garfield Chase

Hello! My name is Garfield Chase, and I am a proud farmer from River Grant Atlas Backland in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Farming is not just my occupation; it is a way of life that connects me deeply to the land and the rich cultural heritage of my community. Here, the lush green fields and the sound of the Pomeroon River are not only my office but also my inspiration. Growing crops like rice and cassava, I take pride in contributing to our local economy and preserving traditional farming methods that have been passed down through generations.

Being Guyanese means being part of a vibrant tapestry of cultures, and I love sharing stories of our delicious cuisine, from the spicy pepperpot to the sweet coconut drops that remind us of home. Although I often hear comments from those in the diaspora about how friendly we are, it’s a natural part of our culture—be it to a neighbor or a visitor. As we say, “You can just be nice to people without knowing they’re a tourist,” reflecting our warmth and hospitality. I often reminisce about festive gatherings where we share laughter and stories over a plate of cook-up rice and fried plantain, creating memories that last a lifetime.

In my spare time, I enjoy connecting with fellow Guyanese, both here and abroad. I believe that even though we might be separated by miles, our roots and experiences bind us together. I'm always interested in hearing feedback and stories from our diaspora community, as they serve as reminders of our shared identity. Whether you’re reminiscing about Karawab Bay or just missing the accents that characterize our speech, let’s celebrate what it means to be Guyanese together!
