Hello! I’m Gavin Williams, a proud resident of River Mora Settlement in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up amidst the rich landscapes of the Pomeroon, I have always found inspiration in our vibrant culture and the warmth of our community. Just as my father cherished his friendships, including a special bond with the late Sybil—whose legendary cooking has become a staple for many since the 80s—I believe in the power of good food to bring people together. Whether it’s sharing a plate of metemgee or celebrating at local gatherings, I relish in the flavors of my heritage.
As a lifelong resident, I have witnessed changes in our landscape, yet the spirit of our people remains unyielded. I enjoy exploring our rivers and waterways, often taking trips upstream to appreciate the stunning beauty of our natural surroundings. Each journey reminds me of the stories we share, reminiscent of the camaraderie that flourishes in our diaspora, where distant connections are maintained through memories of Wanica and the laughter of friends like Zafar and Gladwin.
