Greetings from Essequibo! My name is George Callender, and I’m proud to call Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. As a miner, I spend my days working hard in the lush landscapes that have shaped my life and the lives of my ancestors. Growing up surrounded by the natural beauty of Guyana, from the mighty Essequibo River to the vibrant forests, instilled in me a deep appreciation for our rich environment and cultural heritage.
Food plays a significant role in my life, and I love sharing the flavors of Guyana with friends and family. Whether it's a hearty plate of pepperpot or some savory cook-up rice, our culinary traditions remind me of the warmth of home. I often reminisce about gatherings filled with laughter, music, and the captivating sounds of the accordion—a cherished symbol of our vibrant culture. Having lived briefly in the United States, I cherish the connections I’ve made with the diaspora community. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
