Hello! I’m Sandia George, a dedicated teacher living in the beautiful region of Manawarin, Barima-Waini. Growing up surrounded by the lush rainforest and the mighty Rupununi River, I developed a profound appreciation for both the natural wonders of Guyana and the rich cultural heritage of our people. From the colorful festivals celebrating our indigenous roots to the delicious flavors of cook-up rice and pepperpot, I embrace every aspect of our diverse culture.
As a proud Guyanese, I believe in the importance of education not only to empower our youth but also to connect them with their ancestry. I love sharing stories about our history, our Caribbean identity as one of the founding members of CARICOM, and the experiences of those in the diaspora who yearn to return to their roots. Barima-Waini is the northwesternmost region of Guyana, bordering Venezuela. Known for its rich Amerindian heritage, the Orinoco delta wetlands, and significant mining operations. Population center is Mabaruma.
