Greetings! My name is Giewattie Ramdeen, and I am a dedicated teacher residing in the beautiful River Grant Fearnotsiriki, nestled in the heart of Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up near the vibrant Canje River, I have always been inspired by the rich cultural heritage of Guyana, from our lush landscapes to the warmth of our communities. I believe in nurturing the next generation with the same passion for learning that has been instilled in me since childhood.
As a proud Guyanese, I embrace our culinary delights, especially the traditional Pepperpot, which, just like a well-cooked dish, takes time and love to perfect. I often share these recipes with my students, encouraging them to appreciate our diverse culture through food. It's all about the proper pronunciation, though—Canjeeee River, not Canj River! Our language and names, steeped in history, deserve to be celebrated and honored.
Having lived in the diaspora, I understand the powerful connection many of us have to our homeland, even from afar. Whether it's reminiscing about the Essequibo River or the vibrant celebrations of Mashramani, I strive to instill a sense of pride and cultural awareness in my students. Together, we explore the beauty of our Guyanese identity, ensuring that the spirit of our land thrives in every lesson learned.
