Hello! My name is Gloria Luke, and I am a proud Guyanese currently residing in Melville Wakenaam, on Elizabeth Lane in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region. As a wardmaid, I find joy in serving my community and providing care to those in need. Growing up here, I have a love for our unique culinary traditions, especially our renowned Guyanese Chinese food, which many say is the best in the world! There’s nothing like gathering with family and friends over a plate of chowmein or pepperpot, reminiscing about our adventures at the lively local markets. These experiences connect us, whether we are exploring the stunning Essequibo River or reminiscing about our homeland from afar.
As a member of the diaspora, I understand the mixed feelings about leaving Guyana, especially when hearing stories from loved ones abroad. Yet, no matter where life takes us, our love for our homeland remains strong.
