Hello! I’m Gowkarran Cecil, a proud resident of Leguan, specifically from Richmond Hill in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region. Growing up in Guyana, I’ve always been deeply connected to our vibrant culture and rich heritage. From the lush landscapes of the Pomeroon River to the flavors of our beloved foods, like the always delicious chana from the Chana Man, my life here is woven with the experiences and stories that define our identity as Guyanese.
Living in Guyana, I’ve witnessed our transformation over the years. While we may not yet be a first-world country, I can confidently say that we’ve made significant strides, especially compared to a decade ago. It’s important for us to share our perspective and be heard, especially when conversations about our resources and development arise. As my fellow Guyanese remind us, we must protect our heritage and ensure that our voices are valued in discussions about our oil and resources.
