Hello! My name is Gregory Fitzallen, and I’m proud to call Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. As a dedicated labourer, I spend my days working along the banks of the Pomeroon River, where the lush landscapes and vibrant communities remind me of the rich cultural heritage that defines Guyana. From the bustling markets filled with fresh fruits like golden apples and cassava to the warm, welcoming smiles of my neighbours, life here is a blend of tradition and resilience.
Growing up in this beautiful region has instilled in me a deep appreciation for our local cuisine. Whether it’s enjoying a plate of pepperpot on special occasions or sharing a simple meal of roti and curry with family and friends, food is at the heart of our gatherings. I love to share stories of my ancestors and their journeys, as many Guyanese do, fostering connections with those in the diaspora who yearn to visit and embrace their roots.
As Guyana continues to evolve, it's essential to acknowledge both the challenges and progress we face.
