Greetings from the vibrant heart of Guyana! My name is Gwendolyn Gaime, and I am a dedicated teacher residing in the beautiful Suddie Housing area of Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up in Guyana has been a unique experience that deeply shapes who I am today. I cherish the rich cultural diversity that surrounds me, from the laughter of children in my classroom to the flavors of our delicious local cuisine, which I proudly argue is among the best in the region. I believe in celebrating our heritage and instilling pride in my students about our exceptional Guyanese culture. There’s a connection that runs deep from the Pom River to the bustling streets of Queens, NYC, where many in our diaspora reminisce about home. I aim to bridge this gap by sharing stories, traditions, and the spirit of our communities with my students, ensuring that they carry a piece of Guyana wherever they go.
Living in Suddie, I am always inspired by the breathtaking landscapes and the resilience of my fellow Guyanese. Whether it’s the serene banks of the Pomeroon River or the lively markets filled with the aroma of fresh spices and produce, my surroundings fuel my passion for teaching and community engagement.
