Hello! My name is Haimraj Persaud, and I'm proud to call the beautiful region of Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. As a labourer, I am deeply connected to the hardworking spirit of our people. Here in Guyana, we're known for our resilience and warmth, whether it’s gathering to enjoy a hearty plate of cook-up rice or sharing stories under the shade of our lush green trees. The vibrant mix of cultures in Guyana, from the rhythms of our music to the flavors of our food, is what keeps our community alive and thriving.
Living on the Coast 77 of Huist’ Dieren, I take great pride in our local landmarks, including the stunning Pomeroon River, which has witnessed the stories of generations. Guyana’s rich natural beauty, along with our historical ties to the Caribbean, makes our homeland a unique and cherished place. Though many have left to seek opportunities abroad, like the diaspora who fondly reminisce about our shared traditions, I believe that the heart of Guyana beats in the connections we maintain, no matter where we are.
With the growing interest in our country—often referred to as 'the land of gold'—I hope to share a piece of Guyana with everyone. From the lively celebrations during Mashramani to the flavors of a spicy pepperpot, there’s so much to love about our culture. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
