Hello! I'm Junior Persaud, a proud miner hailing from the beautiful Essequibo region, specifically Capoey Lake in the Pomeroon-Supenaam area. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant rivers of Guyana has shaped my love for nature and my respect for the land. There's nothing quite like the feeling of a cool breeze while fishing along the Essequibo, or enjoying a hearty plate of pepperpot with family during the holidays. These moments are what keep my spirit connected to my roots.
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I've had the pleasure of connecting with incredible people from all walks of life. Whether it’s sharing stories of our unique culinary experiences, like the rich taste of curry and roti or the sweetness of our local fruits, I find a sense of community wherever I go. The pride I feel when I speak of our culture, our traditions, and even our struggles resonates with others, reminding me that we are all part of something bigger, no matter where we find ourselves in the world.
Today, I continue to work in mining, a profession that not only sustains me but also allows me to contribute to the economy of our beloved country.
