Greetings! I’m Haimwant Karanjeet, a dedicated farmer residing in the scenic Regina Essequibo Coast, where the lush greenery meets the vibrant spirit of our Guyanese culture. Growing up amidst the rich alluvial plains of the Pomeroon-Supenaam region, I have developed a deep appreciation for our land and its bounty. From cultivating rice and cash crops to raising livestock, my work is not just a livelihood; it’s a love letter to the soil that nourishes us.
In my daily life, I draw inspiration from the flavors of Guyana, often experimenting with traditional dishes like pepperpot and cook-up rice. I believe that food is a fundamental part of our identity, connecting us to our ancestors and to each other, whether we are in Guyana or part of the diaspora. It’s not uncommon for me to sprinkle some salt on watermelon, just like I learned from my elders, bringing that little taste of home wherever I go.
