Hello! My name is Hansy Ramdial, a dedicated teacher from the vibrant Essequibo Coast of Guyana. Nestled in the heart of Pomeroon-Supenaam, I have the privilege of working with the next generation and instilling in them the values and knowledge that define our rich culture. Whether it's sharing the beauty of our diverse heritage or introducing students to the mouth-watering flavors of roti with chickpeas, I find joy in connecting with my community through education.
Growing up in Guyana, I have been shaped by the stories of our nine indigenous groups, from the Arawaks to the Macusis, and the dynamic energy of our cities like Georgetown and the Pomeroon River. My heart swells with pride when I see our culture celebrated, whether it’s through the vibrant festivals that showcase our music and dance or the delicious local dishes that remind us of home, like the savory POM. I believe it is essential to nurture a positive mindset among our youth, encouraging them to appreciate our beautiful country as it develops and grows.
As part of the Guyanese diaspora, I understand the allure of opportunities abroad, but I remain committed to fostering a sense of community and pride in our local identity. My goal is to inspire students to embrace their roots and aspire for greatness, reminding them that while we may dream of distant shores, the heart of Guyana beats strongly within us all.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
