Welcome! I’m Hazel Fredericks, a proud housesupervisor hailing from the picturesque River Curimeru Settlement in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush greenery and vibrant waterways of the Pomeroon River, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for our rich cultural heritage, from the mouthwatering flavors of cook-up rice and pepperpot to the lyrical rhythms of our folk songs. The warmth of my community embodies the spirit of Guyana, where every gathering feels like a family reunion filled with laughter, stories, and of course, delicious food!
Having lived here all my life, I cherish the connections we have with our Caribbean neighbors and the diaspora around the world. My parents’ stories of their roots, entwined with those from Trinidad and Barbados, resonate deeply with me. I believe that our experiences as Guyanese are intricately woven with the histories and cultures of other Caribbean islands.
