Hello! I’m Hector Toney, a proud resident of Lower Pomeroon, nestled in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. The lush landscapes and vibrant communities of Lower Pom River have shaped my identity and passion for our rich cultural heritage. Growing up amidst the sounds of our rivers and the aromas of homemade curry and pepperpot has instilled in me a deep appreciation for Guyanese cuisine and the warmth of our people. Just like you might hear in Brixton or Liberty Avenue, there's a shared bond among us that transcends borders.
As a member of the diaspora community, I cherish the connections we share, whether it's through lively conversations about our favorite local dishes or the laughter we exchange over shared memories. It's heartwarming to know that people from as far as India recognize our intertwined histories. I often feel a sense of pride when I hear comments like, "My mout a wata," echoing the longing many of us share for our homeland, especially when I see our culinary traditions celebrated abroad.
