Growing up in Guyana, I've always had a love for the vibrant culture that surrounds me—from the delightful spice of pepperpot during the festive season to the soothing sounds of the river that runs through our lands. As a mason, I take pride in building structures that reflect the resilience and warmth of our communities, ensuring that each brick laid tells a story of home and heritage.
Living in a country where the essence of nature and community intertwine, I enjoy the simple pleasures of life, like swinging in a hammock while watching the chickens forage in the backyard. There’s a spirit of camaraderie in our homes, whether it’s sharing a meal of cook-up rice and fried plantains or reminiscing about our beloved landmarks like the Lower Pom River or the scenic trails of Koria. I often connect with fellow Guyanese living abroad, and it warms my heart to hear them reminisce about the beauty of our homeland, even as they navigate new beginnings elsewhere.
