About HOWARD ALLICOCK

About Howard Allicock

Greetings! My name is Howard Allicock, and I hail from the vibrant West Coast Demerara, specifically 33 Block N in the New Housing Scheme of Essequibo Islands-West Demerara. As a proud Guyanese miner, I spend my days working hard in the mines, harnessing the bountiful resources that our beautiful land has to offer. Guyana is a place where the rich cultural heritage of Indigenous, African, and Indian influences comes alive in everything from our music to our food. There's nothing quite like a plate of roti and curry or a bowl of pepperpot to remind me of home.

For those who may not know, Guyana is not just a geographical gem, but a melting pot of cultures and traditions. From the serene banks of the Lower Pomeroon River to the bustling streets of Georgetown, our landscape is as diverse as our people. If you ever find yourself in our neck of the woods, be sure to explore the majestic Kaieteur Falls or take a leisurely boat ride through our rainforest waterways. And if you hear someone ask, "How gaat het?" don’t be surprised; it’s just a warm Guyanese way of saying, "How are you doing?"

As a member of the diaspora, I cherish the connections that link us to our roots, whether it’s through spirited discussions online or sharing traditional recipes with friends and family abroad. I believe that every Guyanese, no matter where they are, carries a piece of our homeland with them. It's essential for us to uplift each other and celebrate our heritage, reminding ourselves that even in our struggles, there's a shared resilience and community spirit that binds us together.
