Greetings! I'm Ie Omattie Choon, a proud resident of Wakenaam, nestled in the picturesque Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant culture of this area, I cherish the simple joys that come from our traditions—whether it's enjoying a hearty plate of cook-up rice on a Sunday or taking a leisurely boat ride along the Essequibo River. My roots run deep here, and I find strength in the resilience of our people, especially as we navigate the challenges that have shaped our community over the decades.
Having witnessed firsthand the impacts of migration on our society, I understand the bittersweet nature of living amidst a diaspora.
