Hello! I’m Ismay Griffith, a proud librarian residing at Coast 114 Ptolemy Avenue in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the vibrant culture and rich history of our land, I have developed a deep love for literature and education, striving to share that passion with my community. From the lush landscapes of Massarie Island to the serene waters of the Pom River, every corner of Guyana inspires my work and my life.
As a member of the diaspora, I often reflect on the warmth of our traditions, particularly when it comes to food. Whether it’s the unmistakable aroma of curry chicken—yes, it’s curry chicken, not chicken curry, as we like to say—or the delightful flavors of pepperpot during the holidays, these dishes bring us together. I enjoy hosting events at the library that celebrate our culinary heritage, and I believe that sharing these flavors can bridge gaps between generations and communities.
In my role as a librarian, I am dedicated to fostering a love for reading and learning in the younger generation of Guyanese. I’m always eager to connect with fellow Guyanese, whether it's reminiscing about our beloved River Grant or discussing the ever-evolving narratives of our homeland.
