Hello! My name is Jagdeo Mawaram, and I proudly call the Essequibo Coast my home, specifically the vibrant community of Sand Quarter Golden in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up surrounded by the rich landscapes and rivers of Guyana has instilled in me a deep appreciation for our natural beauty and cultural heritage. From the lush greenery to the winding Pomeroon River, every corner of my hometown tells a story, much like the cherished meals we gather around—be it a plate of curry duck or some fresh catch from the river, always accompanied by rice and peas.
As a labourer, I believe in the value of hard work and community. Whether it’s lending a hand to neighbors or sharing tales from the Upper Pom River Church Island, I find joy in the connections we build. My roots run deep in places like Castle Lower Pom River Grant Dumbarton and Lower Pom River Grant Enmore Lower, where the spirit of camaraderie thrives. I often reminisce about the days spent at Monica Upper Pom River, where family and friends would come together to celebrate our culture with music, laughter, and storytelling.
While I cherish my life here, I also feel a strong bond with our Guyanese diaspora. The stories and experiences shared by those who have ventured beyond our shores resonate deeply with me. It's a reminder that no matter where we are in the world, the taste of a well-prepared pepperpot or the sound of a tassa drum will always bring us home.
