Hello! My name is Jainarine Tetra, and I'm proud to call the lush landscape of East Bank Essequibo my home. Nestled along the Main Road in Parika, Pomeroon-Supenaam, I draw inspiration for my art from the vibrant hues of our natural surroundings, as well as the rich cultural tapestry that defines our Guyanese identity. As a painter, I strive to encapsulate not only the beauty of our local scenery—like the winding Upper Pomeroon River and the serene Bamboo Landing—but also the spirit of my fellow Guyanese people.
Having grown up in a country steeped in diversity, I cherish the flavors of our culinary traditions, from mouthwatering pepperpot to the sweet delights of cassava and coconut dishes. My work is a reflection of these experiences, aiming to celebrate our heritage while addressing the social issues we face, such as the need for environmental pride and community action. I resonate with the sentiments shared by many in our diaspora, who express a yearning for change while recognizing our struggles, particularly in the wake of recent developments in the oil sector.
