Greetings! My name is Jairaj Prashad, and I am a passionate teacher residing on the beautiful Essequibo Coast, specifically in the close-knit community of Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up here, I have developed a deep appreciation for the rich cultural diversity that defines Guyana. From the vibrant festivals celebrating our Indo-Guyanese heritage to the serene beauty of the Kaieteur Falls, my roots run deep in this land that I proudly call home.
As an educator, I strive to instill a love for learning in my students while also sharing the stories of our beloved country. Whether it’s discussing the delicious flavors of dhalpurie—often attributed to our Trinidadian neighbors—or exploring the rich history of our indigenous peoples, I aim to connect my students with their heritage. After all, our identity is shaped by our past, and it's essential to honor it in today's globalized world.
Outside the classroom, I cherish moments spent with family and friends, enjoying local delicacies and participating in community events. The warmth of our Guyanese community, along with the spirit of camaraderie among the diaspora, is something I hold dear. I believe that through education, we can ensure that the essence of Guyana continues to thrive, both here and abroad.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
