Hello! I'm Cornell Beaton, a proud labourer residing on the beautiful Essequibo Coast in Guyana. Nestled in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region, my home is a stone's throw away from the lush waterways that define our vibrant culture. Growing up here, I've developed a deep appreciation for our diverse communities, from the spirited celebrations of Phagwah to the lively atmosphere of the annual Guyana Carnival. While some may argue about our Caribbean identity, I believe it’s the fusion of Indian, African, and indigenous influences that makes Guyana unique. Recently, I’ve noticed how our diaspora—whether in New York or Trinidad—keeps our traditions alive and thriving, as seen in the camaraderie we share over social media discussions about our beloved homeland.
