Hello! My name is James Gudge, and I proudly call the Essequibo Coast my home, specifically Sand Pit Road in the vibrant Pomeroon-Supenaam region. As a labourer, I dedicate my days to hard work, but in my heart, I carry the rich culture and spirit of Guyana. From the lush landscapes of the Lower Pom River to the lively community gatherings, my life is deeply intertwined with the rhythms and flavors of our beautiful country.
Growing up in Guyana, I developed a love for our local cuisine. Whether it's enjoying a hearty plate of roti with curry or savoring the unique taste of pepperpot during special occasions, food is a vital part of our gatherings. I also have fond memories of celebrating the diverse cultures that make up our nation, where the sounds of calypso and the aromas of local dishes fill the air. My experiences here remind me of the diaspora connections we share, as we often reminisce about home and the distinctive way we pronounce our words that brings a smile to our faces.
