About DENNIS JAMES

About Dennis James

Hello! My name is Dennis James, and I proudly call Baramita in the Barima-Waini region of Guyana my home. As a farmer, I have a deep connection to the land and the rich agricultural heritage that defines our beautiful country. I cherish the days spent cultivating crops and sharing stories with fellow farmers, as we reminisce about our roots and the bountiful harvests that sustain our communities. Each meal I prepare is infused with the vibrant flavors of our traditional dishes, from pepperpot to cassava pone, reflecting the cultural mosaic that is uniquely Guyanese.

Growing up in Baramita, I often hear tales of our ancestors, much like my grandfather who emigrated from British Guiana to the US in 1910, seeking better opportunities for his family. The spirit of resilience and determination flows through our veins, and it’s a privilege to honor our heritage while also embracing the changes that shape our nation today. With Guyana poised to become the richest country in South America, I am excited to witness the growth and development that will benefit not just us, but our diaspora in places like Toronto and beyond.

In my spare time, I love connecting with friends and family, celebrating life’s moments together, whether through a simple gathering or a community event. Each connection reminds me of the importance of unity and respect in our lives as Guyanese. I believe that sharing our culture, from the scenic beauty of the Pomeroon River to the warmth of our people, strengthens our bonds, both at home and abroad. Let's keep the spirit alive and uplift each other, regardless of where we are in the world!
