Hello! My name is Oriel James, and I’m a proud miner based in the lush region of Mission, Barima-Waini. Growing up in Guyana, I developed a deep appreciation for our beautiful landscapes, from the Pomeroon River to the serene Massarie Island. The connection to nature is a part of my everyday life, and it fuels my passion for my work in the mining industry. When I’m not working, you can find me enjoying some of our local delicacies. There’s nothing quite like biting into a warm dhal puri, especially when it’s paired with a rich curry! I cherish the moments spent with family and friends, sharing meals and laughter. The flavors of Guyana are a huge part of who I am. Whether it’s sweet ginips or a refreshing drink of coconut water, food brings us together and keeps our culture alive.
