Growing up in Essequibo Islands-West Demerara, I’ve always been surrounded by the rich local culture, from the mouth-watering aroma of cook-up rice and the sweetness of coconut flesh mixed with brown sugar, reminiscent of my childhood favorites. As a descendant of East Indian ancestors from Uttar Pradesh, I take great pride in celebrating my heritage while contributing to the diverse tapestry of Guyanese society.
