Hello! I’m Jason Lal, a proud resident of Pomeroon, nestled in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. As a Guyanese from South America, I often find myself introducing my homeland as uniquely positioned culturally between the Caribbean and the South American continent. While some may debate our Caribbean identity, I embrace it wholeheartedly, celebrating our rich heritage, diverse communities, and the vibrant spirit that defines us.
Living in Pomeroon, I’m surrounded by lush riverbanks and the fragrant aroma of local delights, from pepperpot and metemgee to fresh fish curry. I am particularly fond of gathering with friends and family, sharing stories over a hearty meal that reflects the fusion of our cultures. Whether it’s the sweet taste of our homemade guava cheese or the comforting warmth of a bowl of rice and beans, food is a cherished part of our communal life.
As a member of the diaspora, I hold a deep connection to my roots and actively engage with fellow Guyanese around the globe. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
