Hello! My name is Jennela Abrams, and I’m proud to call Pomeroon, located in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana, my home. Nestled along the banks of the Pomeroon River, my community is steeped in rich cultural heritage, where the warmth of our people matches the vibrant colors of our lush landscapes. Growing up here, I learned to appreciate the simple joys of life, from gathering with family for Sunday cook-ups that often include our beloved sour Guyanese Chinese dishes, to enjoying the tranquil beauty of our riverside views.
As a resident of Pomeroon, I embrace our unique local customs, whether it’s the way we express ourselves with a casual “watch skunt hayy” or the spirited conversations about our diverse communities, including the diaspora connections that stretch far from our shores. Much like our beautiful homes here, constructed with love and care, I strive to build connections that reflect the authenticity of our culture, sharing it wherever I go. Each interaction is an opportunity to celebrate our heritage and keep our traditions alive.
